On 13–14 March 2018, the Centre for International Law hosted a two-day international conference on Climate Change and the Law of the Sea: Adapting the Law of the Sea to Address the Challenges of Climate Change. The objective of the conference was to bring together leading legal and scientific experts to discuss the impacts of climate change on the marine environment and on uses of the sea and the challenges they pose to the law of the sea. The conference also aimed to examine how the law of the sea could be used both to respond to climate change impacts on the oceans and also to support mitigation and adaptation measures.
