Examining Accountability for Energy Activities in the EU, France, and Germany: An Energy Justice Perspective
CIL Senior Research Fellow Dr. Mohammad Hazrati has co-authored a chapter titled “Examining Accountability for Energy Activities in the EU, France, and Germany: An Energy Justice Perspective,” published by University of Groningen Press in the edited volume Sustainable Energy: Still United in Diversity? Integrating Energy, Climate, and Environmental Law in Times of Geopolitical Instability.
The chapter examines emerging human rights due diligence and accountability frameworks in the EU, France, and Germany through the lens of energy justice, with particular attention to procedural, cosmopolitan, and restorative justice. It highlights how strengthened accountability mechanisms can address human rights abuses and environmental harm linked to energy activities, while promoting sustainability and justice amid geopolitical instability.
