CIL Director Robert Beckman took part in a Panel Discussion on Piracy at the Annual Meeting of the American Society of International Law (ASIL), Washington, DC.

CIL Director Robert Beckman made a presentation on “International Efforts to Combat Piracy in the Gulf of Aden  – Implications for Southeast Asia: at International Workshop on Piracy, Graduate School of Public Policy, University of Tokyo, Japan.

A/P Michael Ewing-Chow, Head of CIL’s Trade and Investment Law & Policy Programme, spoke on the subject of “Corporate Governance in Singapore” at the Ishikawa International Civil and Commercial Law Centre in Kanazawa, Japan.

CIL Director Robert Beckman made a presentation on “The Significance to Asia of Cooperative Measures to Combat Piracy and Armed Robbery at Sea off the Coast of Somalia” at the First Inter-Sessional Meeting on Maritime Security of the ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF) in Surabaya, Indonesia.

The workshop focused on nuclear and ocean governance issues and was held virtually on 19 October 2023.

The Expert-Level Workshop on Addressing the Threats Posed by Sea Level Rise was meant for the UN Delegates and Staff to learn relevant background on an issue of significant concern for a growing number of Member States, including those most vulnerable to the impacts of climate change, such as communities in Small Island Developing States and coastal states.
