CIL was honoured to host a visit by Mr Michael Lodge, Deputy to the Secretary-General and Legal Counsel for the International Seabed Authority (ISA). Mr Lodge delivered a talk as CIL’s Distinguished Speaker at a public seminar on “The Prospects of Mining the Deep Seabed: Law, Economics, Marine Science and Technology” on 23 January 2014. The seminar was moderated by CIL Chairman Professor Tommy Koh and was attended by about 70 participants from the government, business community and academia. During his four-day visit to Singapore, Mr Lodge met with public and private sector leaders, and visited NUS marine engineering and technology, marine biology and ecology, and acoustic sensing research facilities.
