20th Session of the Rhodes Academy of Oceans Law & Policy

Rhodes-2015-sThe 20th session of the Rhodes Academy of Oceans Law & Policy was held from 5 to 24 July 2015 in Rhodes, Greece. CIL Director Robert Beckman, who is also on the Board of Directors of the Rhodes Academy, delivered three seminars on UNCLOS and international environmental law, ship-source pollution and other sources of marine pollution and also co-organised a 3-hour workshop on the marine environment. CIL Non-Resident Fellow Captain Ashley Roach, lectured on the topics of baselines and state practice on baselines and also co-organised a workshop on delimitation. CIL sponsored three Academy participants: Dean of the International Law Faculty, Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam, Ms Pham Lan Dung; CIL Senior Visiting Research Fellow and Fellow at Brookings Institution in Washington DC, Dr Lynn Kuok; and CIL Research Fellow Denise Cheong. CIL Student Researcher Ms Anjali Suhadev, one of this year’s winners of the Rhodes Academy Submarine Cables Writing Award, also attended the Academy.
