Digvijay Rewatkar made a presentation on the regulatory update of the Mining Code on matters concerning the Marine Environment

The presentation concerned the latest update and state of negotiations of the Mining Code especially on aspects of the marine environment. The presentation mapped the discussions on various agenda items of the Informal Working Group on Marine Environment including on environmental thresholds, Regional Environmental Management Plans and environmental compensation fund among other things. The objective of the presentation was to assess the progress of negotiations of the mining code, and identify the levels of convergences and divergences that exist among the States parties on these agenda items including aspects which need further elaboration.
