Dita Liliansa and Digvijay Rewatkar as Facilitators at the Law of Naval Warfare Academy
CIL researchers Dita Liliansa and Digvijay Rewatkar participated as Facilitators at the inaugural “Law of Naval Warfare Academy,” held from 15 to 17 May 2025 at the University of the Philippines Bonifacio Global Campus in Manila, Philippines. The Academy was organised by the Stockton Center for International Law in collaboration with the University of the Philippines College of Law, and co-sponsored by the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force Command and Staff College and the Philippine Navy. The three-day training brought together military officers from key Indo-Pacific naval partners for in-depth training on the law of naval warfare and immersive "wargame"-style simulations. The syndicate scenario enabled participants to apply legal concepts in dynamic, simulated conflict environments at sea. CIL researchers facilitated group discussions throughout the simulations, helping guide participants through legal and operational questions and strategic decision-making processes. The programme aimed to strengthen interoperability and enhance regional preparedness amidst evolving maritime security challenges in the Indo-Pacific.
