CIL Partners with Malaysia’s CARI for Aviation Research

CIL is pleased to announce its partnership with Malaysia’s CIMB ASEAN Research Institute (CARI) to research into and present a report on lifting the barriers for ASEAN’s aviation industry. The report, authored by Prof. Alan Tan, Head of CIL’s Air Law and Policy programme, is to be presented at the inaugural Network ASEAN Forum (NAF) at the Shangri-La Hotel in Singapore on 22nd and 23rd August 2013.

Convened by CARI and the ASEAN Business Club (ABC), the NAF 2013 is a high-profile event that gathers industry captains and influential stakeholders in ASEAN to identify barriers hindering free trade in six championed sectors – aviation, healthcare, financial services, capital markets, connectivity, and infrastructure, power and utilities. The NAF’s overall aim is shape ASEAN’s regional and global industry agenda for greater integration within the context of the proposed ASEAN Economic Community (AEC), a topic that is also one of CIL’s key research areas. The NAF 2013 is steered by some of the most influential corporate leaders in various sectors including ASEAN and global organisations such as AirAsia, CIMB Group, Ayala Corporation, Bangkok Bank, Northstar Group, Indosat, Bank Mandiri and Axiata. The aviation sector’s “Lifting-the-Barriers” Roundtable is championed by AirAsia and chaired by Tony Fernandes (CEO, AirAsia Group) and Emirsyah Satar (CEO, Garuda Indonesia).
