Teaching and Researching International Law in Asia

In June 2018, CIL organised the TRILA Singapore Conference, which was the first in many years to provide a forum where scholars from Asia and throughout the world met to discuss the challenges facing teachers and researcher, appropriate teaching materials and methods, publication platforms and strategies, and the historical and theoretical foundations of international law.

The Conference also included a survey which aimed at obtaining a data-driven understanding and appreciation of the challenges and opportunities particular to both teaching and studying of international law.

The conference was attended by 144 participants comprising both junior and senior faculty from various educational institutions, alongside international law practitioners.
