CIL Research Associate Eduardo C. M. Filho spoke at the Symposium on the “Role of Legislature in Ensuring a Strong Regime for Marine Biological Diversity of Areas Beyond National Jurisdictions or BBNJ Agreement under the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea”, held in Manila, Philippines, from August 27-30, 2024. He presented on the panel titled “The Complementing Role of the Legislature in the Process of Ratifying and Implementing Multilateral Treaties and Advancing the Rule of Law in the Maritime Domain: The Case for the BBNJ Agreement”, alongside Alain Tellier, Senior Advisor at Global Affairs Canada, and Antonio G. de Guzman, Jr., Director General of the Office of International Relations and Protocol, Senate of the Philippines. The conference was organised and sponsored by Philippine Department of Foreign Affairs.
