Nivedita S and Rasmika Ghosh Participated in the Regional Training Programme on Connecting ASEAN: Advancing Energy Security through Subsea Interconnection Power Trade

On 21-22 May 2026, Research Fellow Nivedita S and Research Associate, Rasmika Ghosh from the Energy Law and Policy Team participated in the Regional Training Programme on Connecting ASEAN: Advancing Energy Security through Subsea Interconnection Power Trade organised by the International Energy Agency (IEA) and the Energy Market Authority (EMA), Singapore.

The training programme focused on enabling subsea interconnections and cross-border Renewable Energy Certificate (REC) trade across the ASEAN, bringing together policymakers, regulators, system operators, and industry stakeholders from across the region. This edition placed special emphasis on scaling regional energy trade and advancing the ASEAN Power Grid.

Discussions examined governance and regulatory frameworks for cross-border subsea links, as well as the development of credible and interoperable REC systems to support regional electricity trade and renewable energy integration.
