CIL Research Fellow Dr Su Wai Mon presented at the Commemorative Conference on the 10th Anniversary of the South China Sea Arbitral Award on "Protecting Critical Maritime Infrastructure: Emerging Challenges and the Need for Cooperation." where she examined the growing importance of protecting critical maritime infrastructure, including shipping and ports, as well as offshore and undersea infrastructure. She highlighted the emerging cybersecurity challenges facing these critical infrastructure and explored how disruptions to critical maritime infrastructure can have significant implications for energy security, food security, economic resilience, and regional stability. Her presentation underscored the importance of strengthening international and regional cooperation to enhance the protection and resilience of critical maritime infrastructure against evolving cyber and hybrid threats.
