CIL Energy Law and Policy Team participate in the 5th ASEAN International Conference on Energy and Environment
On 15 October 2025, Senior Research Fellow Mohammad Hazrati, Research Fellow Nivedita S, and Research Associate Rasmika Ghosh from the NUS Centre for International Law, Energy Law and Policy Team, participated in the 5th ASEAN International Conference on Energy and Environment (AICEE), Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Mohammad Hazrati and Nivedita S also delivered a presentation entitled “Towards a Human Rights-based ASEAN Approach to Governing Critical Energy Transition Minerals” based on a forthcoming paper. Their presentation presented findings from their analysis of the international, including African approaches and ASEAN normative frameworks, revealing both opportunities and gaps for a regional approach.
The AICEE is the flagship annual conference organised by the ASEAN Centre for Energy, with an aim to facilitate discussions on energy, climate change, and related interdisciplinary, cross-sectoral issues. It was organised in conjunction with the 25th ASEAN Energy Business Forum (AEBF) and the 43rd ASEAN Ministers on Energy Meeting. This conference provided a platform to interact with policymakers and relevant stakeholders in the energy and environment sectors within the ASEAN, and contributing to the technical, legal, and policy landscape concerning energy within the ASEAN.
